SATVIK- Promoting Ecological Farming

Initiated as a small collective of local organic farmers in 1995, to develop organic farming systems and promote their practice, these farmers were helped by Sahjeevan to coordinate and facilitate their activities. They are in process of seeking registered as a support organization, called SATVIK- promoting ecological farming, with academics, farmers, business persons and activists on their board, to help farmers in planning, training, certification, marketing and conservation. read more...

Renewable Energy Knowledge Centre

Sahjeevan has been sensitive to clean energy issues since its inception. The work started during the early years with interventions in area of smokeless chullas (stoves) for cooking and biogas tanks. This phase was restricted to creating awareness, demonstration and training. In 2002 a larger initiative was started by setting up the renewable energy cell in Sahjeevan. A partnership was established with other experienced partners like Auroville Renewable Energy (AuroRE) located in Auroville and several vendors and suppliers of RE technologies. read more...

Enviro-Socio Knowledge Centre

This is a team of social workers with a strong orientation on technical aspects, and technical practitioners who enjoy social communication. They collaborate with and provide services to the technical knowledge centers in grounding programmes, and designing the appropriate people’s institutions. They have a strong gender perspective and believe that elected peoples bodies must be strengthened to deliver on natural recourse development, governance and creating the necessary conditions for weaker sections of their community to gain access to their means of production. read more...

We believe that Decentralized drinking water is the most reliable alternative to overcome thedrinking water problem in the district. Decentralized meaning the village is self reliant in terms of its drinking water needs. This could be done through Shallow Aquifer Development and reviving the traditional Virdas, Well, Talab etc. as well as creating Village Water Committees for efficient management of available water sources and resource. read more...
