Knowledge Centre

This knowledge center has been working with specific objectives of reviving animal husbandry as a viable and preferred occupation for the region and conserves the vast grasslands and their biodiversity including the once famous Kankrej cattle and Sindhi buffalo of Kutch region.

This knowledge center initiated their work in developing solutions on fodder management to arrest migration of cattle, buffalos and communities from Kutch. The concept of economically viable fodder banks, to be used in droughts has now been adopted by the Abhiyan NGO’s working on the Drought Proofing Program. They have also developed a method for mapping grasslands with nomads towards a management plan for their conservation.

They have recently collaborated with the National Dairy Development Board, Abhiyan and the Sangathans of KMVS to revive the procurement of milk from Kutch. The producer members have created a comprehensive database of every animal in the region to help them improve their practices towards better heard management to gain from improved milk and animal sales.
